iOS 14 is coming in September 2020, and bringing with it significant changes to the ad tech industry. In this article we outline the necessary steps to ensure all of our publishers are ready for the changes.
In September 2020, we will release Vungle SDK v6.8.0 for iOS, which will support iOS 14 and SKAdNetwork 2.0, and offer other improvements. In addition to the iOS 14-specific release targeted for September, all of our earlier SDKs (v6.4 and higher) have been tested against iOS 14 and prove to be stable with no major issues reported (however, we recommend updating to Vungle SDK v6.8.0 for the best performance and end-user experience).
If you wish to start testing early, please contact your account manager for early access to Vungle SDK v6.8.0. Below we outline the simple steps for publishers on our network.
iOS 14 Readiness
For advertisers to use SKAdNetwork on your inventory, publishers must complete these three steps:
- Integrate the Vungle SDK v6.8.0 for iOS.
- Update your
info.plistto include all the SKAdNetwork IDs.
- Implement Apple's
AppTrackingTransparencyframework to ask for permission to track the user for advertising purposes. Be sure to include the
NSUserTrackingUsageDescriptionwith a custom message explaining the purpose of the tracking data; for example, "To ensure the best possible ad experience."
Include the following list of our approved partner IDs for advertising attribution via the SKAdNetwork framework. Note that this list will be updated periodically.
Early Access to Vungle SDK v6.8.0 for iOS
For select publishers, we will have our iOS 14-compatible SDK ready for testing by the week of August 24th, 2020. This early build is designed for testing purposes only; it is not for use in your production environment. After the final GM build of iOS 14 from Apple, we will announce the GA version of our Vungle SDK that is ready for deployment into your production apps.
We estimate that our SDK will be available for your production environments in mid-September 2020, alongside Apple’s official release of iOS 14. For access to our early build of the Vungle SDK v6.8.0 for iOS, contact your account manager.
